Omega (uppercase ?, lowercase: ?) is the 24th and last letter of the Greek alphabet. In the Greek number system, it was taken as the symbol of 800. The letter is known as the Big O in contrast to omicron, which is known as the little O. Omega indicates the end/the last. The capital omega (?) is used to show ohm in physics. It is also used as a symbol for oxygen-18 in chemistry. There are other usages of the uppercase letter in mathematics - computer science and molecular biology too. The lowercase omega (?) is used in biochemistry - chemistry - physics - math - computer science - sociology - etc. The first and the last letters of the Greek alphabet (alpha and omega) are also used as Christian symbols.
